Headquartered in a 72,000 square foot warehouse are located in Long Island
City, New York, we are strategically located just across the East River from
Manhattan and accessible to all tunnels, bridges and interstate highways.
Additionally, nationwide service is available through regional
warehouse/distribution centers throughout the United States.

Company History
Napoleon Barragan, founded his business in 1976 with a small retail furniture
store in Queens, NY. Mr. Barragan, a native of Ecuador, had the idea for
Dial-A-Mattress after seeing a newspaper advertisement for "Dial-A-Steak," an
ad for home delivered steaks purchased by phone. He realized the same approach
could be used to sell mattresses. Thus, he founded Dial-A-Mattress on September
22, 1976, when he began running classified ads offering customers home delivery
of mattresses for $29.99.
Dial-A-Mattress was the pioneer of phone shopping, offering harried consumers
the option of buying, via toll free call, from their homes, offices or cars.
In October 1988, Dial-A-Mattress started promoting the toll-free number in
broadcast advertising and sales increased dramatically. At the time, we also
established an award winning Customer Service division to deal specifically
with our customers’ needs, and installed our first computer system to keep
track of inventory, sales and deliveries, and all the other details of what had
become an extremely complex operation. In 1988, sales reached $4 million.
In 1994, Dial-A-Mattress went nationwide. After many years of hard work, the
company has become a multi-million dollar organization that offers fast, easy
and convenient service to millions of customers, who call from around the
world, visit our website and visit the our galleries and showrooms. Its famous
slogan, "Leave Off the Last 'S' for Savings," has become a household phrase.
The same year, Dial-A-Mattress added a franchise operation in Boston and
throughout New England. Additional franchises were soon added in Philadelphia,
Miami, Orlando and Hartford, CT.
With the increase in popularity of toll-free telephone numbers, we changed our
name to 1-800-Mattress to reflect the new technology.
Today, the company’s distribution is national and global as well, with hundreds of preferred distributors in the United States providing next day delivery to consumers in most areas of the country. We can ship or deliver mattresses internationally as well.
Recently, the company changed its name to 1800Mattress.com to reflect the
enormous popularity of the Internet, as well as the growth of its online
business.
