When you sleep only four hours a night, your body
feels those four hours, and even if you sleep a solid eight hours the next
night, you are still four hours behind. Over time, the four hours multiplies,
especially if you keep shortchanging yourself on sleep. It's just like owing a
loan to the bank 9see "AN IOU For Sleep"); you may keep up the payments but
still be $100 short, and that $100 accumulates interest. Like credit card debt,
sleep debt can damage your life and must be addressed. Maybe you can sleep
twelve hours on the weekend, and afterwards follow a healthy, debt-free sleep
pattern.
